Back-end Software Development Engineering Senior Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Back-end Software Development Engineering Senior Engineer to support large-scale cloud-native application development initiatives within a connected vehicle and telematics ecosystem. This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will have strong experience in microservices architecture, Java and C++ backend development, cloud-native deployment strategies, REST/gRPC APIs, CI/CD automation, and event-driven systems. This opportunity requires close collaboration with engineering teams, architects, and product stakeholders to deliver resilient and high-performing backend services in a hybrid development environment.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional backend software engineering experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience configuring and deploying Cloud Run services
- Proficiency in Java backend development
- Ability to write and maintain production-grade C++ code
- Working knowledge of Python for scripting and troubleshooting
- Experience designing and implementing REST APIs and gRPC services
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Experience with GitHub workflows, pull requests, and branch strategies
- Familiarity with GitHub Actions or Cloud Build CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of IAM roles, least-privilege access, and service authentication
- Experience with Pub/Sub and event-driven architectures
- Knowledge of concurrency, memory management, and system-level software behavior
- Experience with cloud monitoring, logging, and observability tools
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry or equivalent observability frameworks
- Experience working with databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or MongoDB
- Bachelor’s Degree required
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
- Build cloud-native applications using GCP technologies
- Develop and optimize microservices-based architectures
- Configure Cloud Run services, secrets management, and networking settings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, product owners, and frontend developers
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub-based environments
- Manage backend deployments, monitoring, and production support
- Ensure API versioning, backward compatibility, and documentation standards
- Optimize application resiliency, reliability, and system performance
- Troubleshoot distributed systems and production service issues
- Support cloud infrastructure automation and deployment processes
- Implement security best practices including encryption and secure authentication
- Participate in code reviews and promote clean coding standards
- Contribute to observability and logging strategies across backend services
