Senior Software Engineer (Python / AWS / DevOps)
Job Description
OperAxis is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for an onsite role in Buena Vista, FL. You'll design and build reliable, high-throughput, low-latency cloud software and infrastructure components, working closely with engineers and data scientists on data management and distributed systems problems. This is a 12+ month contract. Open to U.S. Citizens and Green Card holders. Duration: 12+ months Requirements • 5+ years of software development experience across diverse domains, including data management and distributed systems • Expert-level coding: you build sophisticated solutions with time and space complexity in mind • Strong Python development combined with DevOps practices: CI/CD, Docker, automated testing and automation • Hands-on AWS solutions using core services such as IAM, S3, Kinesis, Lambda and SNS • Infrastructure as code with Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK • Proficiency in TypeScript, Java or another strongly typed language • Understanding of trade-offs between data storage systems and architectures: data warehouses, SQL vs. NoSQL, partitioning • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Responsibilities
- Design and implement reliable, high-throughput, low-latency, scalable and well-documented code for sophisticated algorithms and cloud infrastructure components
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists and partners, and make proposals across teams on engineering work and practices
- Design low-level implementation details: data structures and class, function and code organization
- Propose implementation approaches that support architectural changes addressing scaling and performance
- Proactively reuse or generalize existing services and implementations
- Stay current on new technologies and best practices in data management and software engineering
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to team members
- Review pull requests with consistent scrutiny
