Senior .NET Developer (.NET / MS SQL Server / Angular)
Job Description
The OperAxis team is seeking a Senior .NET Developer (Programmer Analyst) to support a state government agency in Lansing, MI. This hybrid contract role is onsite 2 days a week, and local candidates are preferred. You'll support project-based and work-request development, primarily enhancing a public-facing application that shows permit availability across counties. Acting as a key liaison with agency partners, you'll translate strategic goals, business processes and functional needs into robust, sustainable technical solutions, working alongside business analysts and other technical staff. The ideal candidate pairs strong .NET, MS SQL Server and Angular skills with an exceptional customer-service mindset, clear communication and the ability to guide stakeholders through processes, standards and technical constraints. Duration: 7 months, contract (Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM) Requirements • 4–7 years of experience with .NET, MS SQL Server and Angular • Strong experience developing enterprise applications with maintainable, scalable code • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical designs and working software • Excellent communication, customer-service and stakeholder-relationship skills • Ability to quickly learn new technical environments and system dependencies • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and adapt to change • Preferred: experience in structured environments with standards, methodologies and governance • Bachelor's degree
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance applications, including a public-facing permit availability tool
- Collaborate with business analysts and agency stakeholders to interpret requirements and design solutions
- Translate business needs into system architecture, technical specifications and development tasks
- Support project and work-request activities through coding, testing, debugging and deployment
- Participate in discovery sessions, elicitation and process modeling
- Provide expert guidance on technical feasibility, constraints, standards and policies
- Maintain clear communication with agency partners throughout the development lifecycle
- Support operational activities as a key member of the technical team
- Troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes
- Ensure compliance with security, accessibility and quality standards
