Senior COBOL Developer (COBOL / JCL / CICS / DB2 – Card Processing)
Job Description
The OperAxis team is seeking a Senior COBOL Developer for a 12-18+ month remote contract with a leading banking client. Candidates based in or near Dallas, Houston, Austin or San Antonio, TX will be considered first. The ideal candidate will have recent, significant mainframe development experience in COBOL, JCL, CICS and DB2, along with a strong credit card processing background in the banking industry. This role requires bilingual Spanish/English communication and the ability to collaborate closely with other development staff. Requirements: - 5+ years of COBOL, JCL, CICS and DB2 development experience within the last 10 years - 1-2+ years of recent banking industry experience (within the last 5-10 years) - 3-5 years of recent credit card processing experience - Bilingual in Spanish and English - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Must have a current LinkedIn profile - Must be a U.S. Citizen; no sponsorship is available - Nice to have: Control-M, debit card processing (authorization, completion, non-financial and tokenization messages), batch posting, settlement and reconciliation, ISO 8583 Responsibilities: - Follow the software development lifecycle to design, code, configure, test, debug and document system and application programs - Assist in preparing technical design specifications based on functional requirements and analysis documents - Review functional requirements, analysis and design documents and provide feedback - Collaborate with other developers to achieve quality and consistency - Participate in architecture, design and code reviews - Develop and maintain operational and system-level documentation - Support batch processing and online transaction flows for card platforms - Troubleshoot and resolve production issues on mainframe applications
