Scrum Master (Agile / Azure DevOps / CSM)
Job Description
The OperAxis team is seeking a Certified Scrum Master for a 9-month hybrid contract with a state government transportation client in Mechanicsville, VA. Onsite presence is required, so this role is open to local candidates only. Interviews include a phone screen and an in-person meeting. You will facilitate Scrum ceremonies for an Agile delivery team, keep backlogs and dashboards in Azure DevOps current, and give clear reporting on delivery metrics, risks and project status. The ideal candidate balances Agile facilitation with hands-on delivery operations in a technical environment, investigates issues before escalating them, and communicates well across teams. Requirements: - Must have: Agile, Scrum Master experience, Azure DevOps and CSM certification (required) - 3-5 years as a Scrum Master supporting Agile teams - 3+ years facilitating Scrum ceremonies and coaching teams on Agile frameworks and values - 3+ years with Azure DevOps or similar tools: backlogs, work items, user stories, tasks and dashboards - 3+ years tracking and reporting delivery metrics such as velocity, burndown, risks, blockers and status - 3+ years of documentation, action tracking and administrative support - Root-cause investigation, process improvement and cross-team dependency coordination - Strong written and verbal communication - Nice to have: PMP certification, large enterprise or government experience, Agile maturity or transformation work Responsibilities: - Facilitate Scrum ceremonies for the Agile delivery team - Maintain backlogs, work items and dashboards; create and refine Azure DevOps cards and documentation - Track and report delivery metrics, risks and project status accurately - Document decisions, action items and status updates - Investigate issues before escalating, and partner with the Development Manager on alignment and risk mitigation - Coordinate dependencies and communication across teams - Support process and continuous improvement initiatives
