Senior Database Administrator (Contract to Hire)
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator for a fully remote contract-to-hire opportunity. This role is intended to convert to a permanent position after the initial contract period. You will keep enterprise databases secure, available and performing well, handling day-to-day administration, tuning, backup and recovery, and production support in partnership with application and infrastructure teams. The ideal candidate will bring several years of senior-level DBA experience on a major relational database platform and the ability to work independently in a remote team. Candidates must be independently authorized to work in the U.S.; sponsorship is not available. Requirements • Several years of hands-on senior Database Administrator experience • Deep expertise in at least one major relational database platform • Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization • Experience with backup, recovery, high availability and disaster recovery • Experience supporting production databases and resolving incidents • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote team • Independent work authorization only (US Citizen, Green Card, GC EAD, H4 EAD, L2 EAD or EAD); no sponsorship is available
Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain and monitor enterprise databases
- Tune database and query performance
- Plan and manage backup, recovery and disaster recovery procedures
- Manage user access, roles and database security
- Support upgrades, patching and migrations
- Troubleshoot and resolve production database issues
- Partner with development and infrastructure teams on database design
- Maintain database documentation and operational runbooks
