Lead Full Stack Java Developer (Spring Boot / Angular)
Job Description
OperAxis is hiring a Lead Full Stack Java Developer for a Health Insurance client. You'll design, build and support scalable web applications, APIs and cloud-native solutions for a customer service platform, working with a team of 10 to 15 onshore and offshore developers. The work is about 70% new enhancements and 30% maintenance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical lead with strong Java, Spring Boot and Angular skills, experience on Google Cloud Platform including its AI capabilities, and a habit of using AI-assisted development tools. Duration: 12-18+ months This role is open to local candidates only (Pennsylvania, South/Central New Jersey or Delaware); relocation is not available. Requirements • 10+ years of Java development experience • 5+ years as a full stack developer, including 2+ years in a lead role • Hands-on Java and Spring Boot • Angular (React is a plus) • Web services and RESTful APIs, both building and consuming • Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including AI knowledge • Relational databases and SQL • Source control, automated testing and CI/CD • Strong communication skills and an active LinkedIn profile • Preferred: Genesys Cloud • Preferred: Microservices, Docker and Kubernetes, API gateways and event-driven architecture • Preferred: Healthcare, insurance or other regulated industry experience • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience • Must be a U.S. citizen, local to PA, South/Central NJ or DE
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain enterprise web applications, APIs and cloud-native solutions
- Build backend services with Java and Spring Boot, and user interfaces with Angular and React
- Develop RESTful APIs and integration services for internal and external partners
- Implement cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform
- Take part in architecture, technical design reviews and solution planning
- Review code for standards, security and best practices, and mentor junior and mid-level developers
- Troubleshoot production incidents, resolve defects and deliver enhancements
- Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation with DevOps teams
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve productivity and code quality
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and maintain technical documentation
