Java Lead Engineer (Java 17 / AWS)
Job Description
We are seeking a Java Lead Engineer for an estimated 13-month hybrid contract in Chicago, IL, with a leading enterprise client building a state-of-the-art digital platform. Candidates in the Chicago area, or able to commute or relocate, are preferred. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional off-shift and weekend support calls. You will contribute to the design, development and deployment of the platform, lead development and support teams, and mentor junior developers while keeping software quality high. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of Java development, strong Java 17 and AWS skills, and 3+ years leading geographically distributed teams, plus a passion for technology and eagerness to contribute to a team-oriented environment. Requirements • 10+ years designing and developing software applications in Java • 3+ years leading geographically distributed teams • Strong Java 17 and backend development • RESTful web services • AWS experience: IAM, Kinesis, DynamoDB, API stack, SQS, SNS and KMS • SQL queries using Slick • DevOps experience • Experience building high-availability, reliable solutions, with some architecture experience • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred)
Responsibilities
