Business Consultant (Technology Spend / FP&A / Power BI)
Job Description
The OperAxis team is seeking a Business Consultant to join the Technology Strategic Spend Team of a banking and financial services client in Chicago, IL. This is a 5-month hybrid contract (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM). You will deliver the analysis behind decisions in the Technology organization, covering strategy, labor, hardware and software spend. You will also coordinate Technology, Finance and Procurement to turn that analysis into action. The ideal candidate combines strong GAAP accounting and financial analysis with hands-on Power BI, SQL and Excel skills. You should be confident presenting to Technology Leadership, engineers, project managers, finance managers and procurement specialists. Requirements: - Must have: Accounting, Business Analysis and Reporting - 7–10 years of experience in project analysis, management reporting, planning and analysis - Strong accounting (GAAP), reporting and financial analysis skills - Able to evaluate financial results and projections across all financial statements - Strong analytics tool skills: Power BI, SQL, Excel, Word and PowerPoint - Excellent written and verbal communication for senior management audiences - High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred Responsibilities: - Drive analysis and presentations for IT Capital Expenditures across the Technology Portfolio, including prioritization, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis - Create leadership-level analyses of technology usage and demand, financial impacts and contracts - Build financial business cases for technology decisions such as switching providers or adding products and capabilities - Use Power BI, SQL and Excel to develop data-driven recommendations for senior leadership - Partner with Finance and Procurement on productivity and automation reporting - Lead special projects and ad hoc requests for the Technology function
